We have designed mechanical
and plumbing systems for apartment complexes and other similar
projects in Knoxville, TN and Pigeon Forge, TN. These types
of multi-family constructions require independent controls
for each tenant space. Typically, facilities use residential-type
heating and cooling units to condition occupied spaces. We
have incorporated new, self-contained vertical PTACs in some
of our designs. These systems integrate the condensing unit
with the air handler for installation at an exterior wall.
This concept eliminates the need for condensing units on the
ground outside the building as well as the expense of routing
refrigerant lines between the units. The units are instead
mounted at the exterior wall, saving time and money. A quality
system will quickly pass beneath the notice of the tenant and
simply contribute to a positive feeling of their living space,
but leaking and noisy pipes will cause immediate dissatisfaction.
It is vital that a designer understand that the HVAC and plumbing
system designs are vital to tenant happiness.
